I Would Rather
I would rather have enough money in my purse to buy dinner for me and a friend then enough money to buy a designer bag.
I would rather float around in a backyard pool with the man I care about than take lavish trips with someone who has a lot of money and no heart.
I would rather have a bunch of wild flowers hand picked from the side of the road than a diamond that someone died over seas for.
I would rather go watch my nephews flag football games and the joy on their faces than go to the stadium to watch overpaid men and eat $14.00 hotdogs.
I would rather listen to a friend tell me over coffee about an amazing day they've had than go to a crowded club with loud music.
I would rather remain friends and wish an ex best wishes than become wrapped up in dramatic nonsense like a living episode of Springer.
I would rather make my friends laugh til they cry than buy tickets to a comedy club full of strangers.
I would rather take the mother of a Fallen service member to lunch than donate to political fund.
I would rather know that ANY child eats ANYWHERE in the world than bitch about where money is spent and by who.
I would rather pay millions to firefighters, police, and service members who save, protect and defend life than NBA or NFL players who entertain for a few hours a year.
I would rather take a shot at someone using my camera to preserve their beauty than take a shot at someone out of anger and ugliness.
I would rather have the world get it priorities straight and begin to understand the important things in life than continue to have this planet spiral out of control while searching, fighting and dying for better, more, and bigger.
